I have installed Arch Linux as a guest OS with QEMU.
I want to run it as a 800x600 sized window, so I could move it and still see it all.
But, as soon as the boot process finishes (when the login screen appears), the window somehow expands (to 1024x768, I guess).
I have tried the following kernel parameters, without success: "nomodeset vga=789"
The X server was not run, it is not even installed.
The bootloader is Syslinux.

A simple "video=800x600" should do it.
