Hello,
I have an issue with sound (input and output), generally it isn't working but it was working perfectly. I have never changed anything in config, default was just perfect for me.
It all started when I installed pulseaudio to get sound in Skype, after first reboot sound worked perfectly even in Skype on default settings, after next reboot the sound has disappeared.
I'm running Arch Linux x86_64.

Maybe it is just muted? What if you run alsamixer? Try selecting the correct sounding card while on it (F6 key).
