Adjusting volume over 100% in GNOME on Arch.

Hi,

On Ubuntu I could set the sound preferences so I could adjust the volume above 100% directly with the volume up/down keys on my computers. I can not find that setting which is a checkbox in the sound settings on Ubuntu. The sound settings in GNOME looks very similar, but is lacking that checkbox. You can see the checkbox here:

Is there a way I can get configure GNOME to get the same result, or do I have to open sound settings every time I need to set the volume above 100%? And why is 100% not full volume in the first place?

Maybe not the best solution but I used to use :

pamixer --allow-boost --set-volume 300 from the command line.

AFAIK all this does is allow you to put PCM over 0db. As you usually have distortions above that level, 0db is set to "100%" (and pavucontrol etc. can go above it). My guess is Ubuntu adds a patch which prevents shooting yourself in the foot. I could be completely wrong, of course.
