mtdchar.ko missing 3.18.6-1

Hi Everyone,

Kernel module mtdchar.ko is not present in 3.18.6-1.  Is this known, intentional, unintentional?

I'm new to Arch Linux; how would/should I go about obtaining mtdchar.ko?  My kernel information is:
Linux dkarchlinux64 3.18.6-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Sat Feb 7 08:44:05 CET 2015 x86_64 GNU/Linux

It's intentional.

From the Linus's kernel git tree log for v3.9-rc3:

    mtd: merge mtdchar module with mtdcore

That log also includes a long explaination about why this was done.
