At my college theres an open wifi network but when you connect to it(for example I'm using my phone) and it will bring up a web page that requires signing in to access the internet
My problem comes in when I try to connect to the wifi with my laptop as I do not have a gui installed so when I connect to the wifi, it says I'm connected but do not have internet access.
I tried copying the website and using a command line web browser to go the website that requires the sign in page and it didn't bring me to the website.

Perhaps links ?? (a text based browser)
Is this an installation issue, or are you running without a GUI by design?

Yes, links is what I used to try to get to the sign in page
I use my laptop for programming mostly and don't require but sometimes it is nice to use links to quickly look up something or connecting to my home desktop over ssh

I tried copying the website...
That will often not work even with GUI browsers. Just open (e)links/w3m and try to go to any website (e.g. google.com) and it should redirect you to the sign in page.

I don't think links supports JavasScript, or does it? w3m does though. I have no idea if the wifi login somehow requires JavaScript but it's worth a shot.
