Dedicated GPU not getting good performance with bumblebee

I have an MSI G70 Stealth laptop that I'm trying to get Dota 2 and other games running well on.

I've followed the guides outlined on the bumblebee page on the wiki and the steampowered page here https://support.steampowered.com/kb_art … -GJKC-7437 .

When I run Dota 2 at minimum settings I get <40fps and it becomes unplayable when there are effects onscreen. I've run steam using "primusrun steam" and I've tried setting the launch options for Dota 2 as "primusrun %command%". The strange thing is that it seems like it IS using the dedicated GPU becasue the indicator light turns from white to orange when I launch the game.

If I run "vblank_mode=0 glxspheres64" it uses my Intel GPU and I get around 280-290 FPS.

OpenGL Renderer: Mesa DRI Intel(R) Haswell Mobile
348.328796 frames/sec - 388.734937 Mpixels/sec
278.043224 frames/sec - 310.296238 Mpixels/sec
282.596416 frames/sec - 315.377601 Mpixels/sec
286.132809 frames/sec - 319.324215 Mpixels/sec

If I run "vblank_mode=0 primusrun glxspheres64" it uses my GTX 765M but I only get around 230-240 FPS

OpenGL Renderer: GeForce GTX 765M/PCIe/SSE2
ATTENTION: default value of option vblank_mode overridden by environment.
ATTENTION: default value of option vblank_mode overridden by environment.
229.796765 frames/sec - 256.453189 Mpixels/sec
232.851239 frames/sec - 259.861983 Mpixels/sec
243.545867 frames/sec - 271.797187 Mpixels/sec
250.295195 frames/sec - 279.329438 Mpixels/sec

This difference in performance is very apparent when using glxgears also.

GTX765M = ~4300 FPS
Intel = ~8000 FPS

What can I do to check to see if I have a problem with my drivers? That's the only thing I can think of.

Any help appreciated, thanks!

Re: Dedicated GPU not getting good performance with bumblebee

glxspheres and glxgears aren't benchmarks. They are far too simple for that. The perceived lack of performance running these is because of the copying stuff which is going on using primusrun.

I put at button on it. Yes. I wish to press it, but I'm not sure what will happen if I do.  (Gune | Titan A.E.)

Re: Dedicated GPU not getting good performance with bumblebee

Why would I be getting such poor performance in DotA 2 and CS:GO? I usually get 100+ FPS in Windows on these games, but in Arch they are unplayable even at the lowest settings. I feel like there must be something wrong. I really hope this isn't just a fact of Arch Linux. I guess I could run some official benchmarks when I get home. Thanks for the reply.
