Thunar hides some files/folders on smb share

I am mounting a usb storage device on a Slackware server and it is being shared via samba.

If I mount the share manually on Arch Linux, I can see a full file listing:

However, if I browse network shares from Thunar, I only see a partial file list:

I don't recognise any pattern as to which files are shown and which are hidden, and don't understand what is going on.

Can anyine shed any light?
