Hi.
I am new to this forum (but not new to Arch).
When viewing HTML5 videos (e.g. Youtube) with Firefox, most of the time the video does not play. I see the first frame of the video and, if I scroll with the bar I can also see the other frames, but the video does not play.
I'm using Firefox 36.0.1. In about:plugins I see the following plugins:
* OpenH264 Video Codec provided by Cisco Systems, Inc. version 1.3
* RealPlayer 9
* DivX Browser Plug-In
* mplayerplug-in is now gecko-mediaplayer 1.0.9
* Windows Media Player Plug-in
* QuickTime Plug-in 7.6.9

Can you provide a link to a failing video?
I don't have that much plugins installed in firefox and videos work fine for most of the time.
Did you try disabling them? As these are all related to video playing on (or more ) of them might break something.
EDIT: For reference I have these plugins
- OpenH264 Video Codec provided by Cisco Systems, Inc.
- IcedTea-Web Plugin (using IcedTea-Web 1.5.2)
- Shockwave Flash
(yes I know it is flash....*urrgh*)

I put at button on it. Yes. I wish to press it, but I'm not sure what will happen if I do. (Gune | Titan A.E.)

Just to give an example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9OPc7MRm4Y8
The problem applies to the ads that youtube puts before showing the video.

Okay so the ads are causing the trouble. This really makes people want to buy their products then...
Have you considered using an adblocker? Just a workaround but should work

Ops, sorry, I meant that the problem applies to the ads, TOO.
I have the same situation when there is no ad.

Plays fine in my firefox (I'm using [testing], but it's firefox 36.0.1-1 here too). I have only OpenH264 Video Codec provided by Cisco Systems, Inc. in about:plugins.
Have you changed anything in about:config? What graphics drivers are you using?
Do you have any optional dependencies for firefox installed?
Offline
No, I did not change anything in the configuration. Before installing the gecko player (which I suppose is the reason why I have so many plugins) it did not work either. Except for the gecko player I haven't installed any other optional dependency for firefox.
I'm using Intel drivers (I have Optimus, but I'm using the integrated card).

You really shouldn't have to use external players just for HTML5 if that's all you want it for. Are your gst packages installed properly? Particularly gst-libav, -good and -ugly, on related note gst HW accel tends to break, do you have gst-vaapi installed? If so uninstall it and try again

Reinstalling gst-libav, -good and -ugly solved the issue.
Thanks!

No problem, don't forget to prepend [solved] to the title in your initial post
