Advantages of ThinkFan on Lenovo T440s ?

Hi everybody,

i just setup my new T440s Laptop. I read about thinkfan, (in the Wiki-Article about the T420).

Out of the box, without thinkfan, things seem to work fine, i only ever noticed the fan when compiling things from AUR ... no problems with heat, so far.

Thus, i was wondering if i would gain anything from using thinkfan ...

So, any clues ?

The T440{,s} seems to do a pretty great job at fan control.  Unless you have real issues with fan noise or thermal stuff, I would just let the firmware do its thing.  To be honest, I rarely ever hear the fan kick in on my machine.  It is mostly silent (except for the clackety of the excellent keyboard).

Yes, that was my impression as well ... never got a higher temp than 63°C, even when doing heavy compiling ... usually round 40° ...
