On the machine which I set up recently I started having some problems with my cpu load, at least when playing media, for example watching videos on youtube. It sometimes gets really laggy and sometimes I can't even watch the videos on full screen, only lower resolutions work. The computer isn't the newest one, but I never had many problems and at least watching videos on youtube shouldn't be much of an issue.

when running firefox via my terminal it often shows
Failed to open VDPAU backend libvdpau_r600.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
so I figured it might be connected to a problem with my graphic drivers. So far I haven't done to configure my graphic card besides installing xf86-video-ati.
Do you have some ideas what I could do? Tell me if you need any more information.
Thanks for your help

Install mesa-vdpau, reboot and try again.

Kernel CPU usage is very high.
Probably some issues with graphic acceleration.
Consider installing proprietary driver for ATI (catalyst)

Installing mesa-vdpau seemed to work. Thank you so much

Next time you can try figuring it yourself, there's pkgfile to help https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pkgfile
You've got an error about a missing file: libvdpau_r600.so. Let's see if any package from the repos provides it
$ pkgfile libvdpau_r600.so
extra/mesa-vdpau
