[REQUEST] btnx, a daemon for rerouting mouse button events (orphaned)

One piece of software that I've failed to find a Linux alternative to is X-Mouse Button Control. While it is possible to duplicate at least some of its features with existing tools on Linux, doing this is complicated. However, there is one user-friendly tool that shares some things in common with X-Mouse Button Control, and that's btnx.

btnx (Button Extension) is a daemon that enables rerouting of mouse button events through uinput as keyboard and other mouse button combinations. btnx requires btnx-config, a configuration tool for btnx. See https://github.com/cdobrich/btnx-config/ for more details.

btnx was abandoned by its original developer a while ago, but someone else got permission to take over the project on github, where it now resides here.

In the AUR, btnx and btnx-config are both oudated and lack a maintainer. Anyone up for it?
