correct use of pkgfile to find a library

I am trying to use pkgfile to see which package supplies a library file that vlc is complaining about like this

pkgfile -s 'libvdpau_i965.so'

but that returns nothing.

I also tried without quotes and with a wildcard.

VLC complains about it so I think it is in the repos somewhere

Re: correct use of pkgfile to find a library

Have you tried finding another file with pkgfile?
