[Solved] Volume automatically lowers randomly

Hi everyone,

I've been having this odd problem for a while now and I can't seem to figure out what's causing it. The problem is: the system volume automatically lowers to the same level at random times. By "random," I mean sometimes it's every 2 minutes or so, but more often, every couple of hours or so but it is really unpredictable.

Things I know/I've tried:
- I'm currently using gnome but this happens even with i3 and xmonad
- I have pulseaudio and alsa installed
- The system volume is changed (not app specific) -- the "master" volume in alsamixer is lowered

fuser -v /dev/snd/*

              USER PID ACCESS COMMAND
/dev/snd/controlC0: clarence 927 F.... pulseaudio
/dev/snd/controlC1: clarence 927 F.... pulseaudio
/dev/snd/pcmC0D0p: clarence 927 F...m pulseaudio

Is there any way to figure out which process is changing the volume and why?

Re: [Solved] Volume automatically lowers randomly

Thanks Alad, I don't understand how I missed this when I was looking at that wiki page ....

Just out of curiosity -- is it possible to know which process is trying to change the volume? The issue doesn't occur when I open an app. It occurs randomly even when I'm just watching something.
