can't configure my sound card

Hello all

I'm trying to configure my soundcard, but alsaconf is not working:

# alsaconf 2> alsa.err
(crash...)
# cat alsa.err
/usr/sbin/alsaconf: line 440: 2674 Segmentation fault $DIALOG --msgbox "$msg" 20 63

Does anyone have an idea?

My config:

02:09.0 Multimedia audio controller: ESS Technology ES1968 Maestro 2
Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 32, IRQ 9
        I/O ports at d800 [size=256]
Capabilities: [c0] Power Management version 1
# uname -vr
2.6.15-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Sat Mar 11 11:41:17 CET 2006
# cat /etc/arch-release
Arch Linux 0.7.1 (Noodle)

Thanks

Re: can't configure my sound card

umm this is probably not the problem but do you have dialog and gettext installed? (try to type dial<TAB> in a term)

maybe you havent installed all of alsa? pacman -Ss alsa

Re: can't configure my sound card

Hi !

All those packages are installed....

I commented out the line in alsaconf where dialog is called from, then my card is  detected and the modules are loaded. But now i've got another problem: when I run alsamixer, my pc crashes and I have to reboot it. No messages appear in /var/log/*
