Hey everyone, I'm new here but I've been using Arch for a while now, so I'm pretty familiar with how to run things. I'm going to try and help out if I can, but I had this question which has been on my mind for a while now. Is there any idea on a newer version of gstreamer being recompiled anytime soon for pacman? The reason I ask is because it seems like a lot of new packages which could come out multimedia wise depend on newer versions of gstreamer (banshee for example) and as of now it doesn't seem to be that way. I was just curious if there was a reason to not build it which I just don't understand as of now. Thanks for any ideas on this package.

You mean gstreamer 0.10? It's in the testing repo. Enable the testing repo in your pacman.conf if you want to use it.

Haha wow I completely forgot about it. Way to make myself look like I know what I'm doing at all. Thanks for the update though.
Do you happen to know if .10 is a full release by gstreamer or is it testing also?

0.10.x is a stable release - it's at 0.10.4 at the moment.
The website has all the details.

It also cannot be used as as a replacement for GStreamer 0.8, since the two version are very very different. However, GST 0.8 and 0.10 are parallel-instalable.

Thanks for the info folks. Funny enough, I managed to really mix up my installation enough by running an update from the stable to testing branches by accident. Oh well though... I was planning on reinstalling sometime soon anyway, and I can recover it if I want.
Once again though, thanks for the information.
