AUR Helper Scripts

This thread is intended to provide a "locator" resource for all the AUR helper scripts out there - for searching and/or building from the AUR.  This does include some of the GUI pacman frontends, and it is ok to repost those here.

I would appretiate it if the author of each front end posted a small (2-3 line) description of their creation, along with a homepage link and an AUR link (where applicable).  Screenshots would also be nice (if applicable).

This thread is only intended for this purpose and will be cleaned of other posts.  If this thread ends up locked and you have a front end to add, feel free to PM any of the moderator staff and we will unlock it for you.

Re: AUR Helper Scripts

Yogurt

Yogurt is a ArchLinux related tool useful to build packages for unsupported software for which is only provided the PKGBUILD in the Archlinux User Repository (AUR).
Yogurt features a rudimental dependency support both from standard repositories and AUR.

Let's see it: Screenshot

No AUR link neither PKGBUILD yet, I'm sorry.

Re: AUR Helper Scripts

aurbuild

Builds and installs packages from AUR as regular user. Missing dependencies can be built and installed from abs using makepkg or installed using pacman (similar to makepkg --syncdeps or --builddeps) *No dependencies will be built from AUR*. A rudimentary menu provides a list of the build files included in the tarball to view/edit as desired, while indicating the "TU safe" status of the PKGBUILD. Supports multiple package requests.

Re: AUR Helper Scripts

qpkg is a tool, written in python by Alexander 'dma147' Mieland, for searching in all (known) repositories and on AUR.

It can install and automatically update packages from AUR and it also can install all needed dependencies of a package from AUR.

NEW: Now the voting function is included in version >= 1.1.0. You can vote for packages on AUR through qpkg. It shows you a list of found packages in a formatted table and you can see, if you've already voted for a package or not.

qpkg can also configure your pacman.conf and /etc/pacman.d/ for use of the other known repositories.

aur-get

aur-get is simple AUR manager written in python. It will help you with searching, downloading, installing and updating packages from AUR.

aur-get is no more maintained. It's ugly and buggy code. Don't use it.

Re: AUR Helper Scripts

AurGet
254 lines of bash aimed at quickly searching and installing from aur.  visually designed to mimic pacman-color, aurget accepts -u to check for and install updates to your installed aur packages, -s to search the aur, -d and -b to download the tarball or build the package respectively, and finally run option-less to install the passed targets.

i had a longer, clunkier version i'd been using for a while and decided to give it a makeover.  was about to post my own thread then saw this.  hope it's useful

Re: AUR Helper Scripts

In addition to posting information about AUR helper scripts in this thread, please take a few moments to update the AUR Helpers wikipage.

It presents the same material found in this thread, but it needs to be refreshed with more complete and up-to-date information.

If anybody doesn't have the time to update this wikipage, let me know about your project and I'll update it. But the folks who write and maintain the AUR Helpers are the best ones to update the wiki.

Re: AUR Helper Scripts

The information presented in this thread has been transferred to a newly revised AUR Helpers Wiki page. The information already present on that page has been merged with the info from this thread, and it has all been reorganized and reformatted. The one exception is paku, which is GUI program. I will be putting that one onto a different, more appropriate wikipage.

Please review the wiki entries for your particular programs and scripts and revise as needed.

Thank you.
