I am using all the default configurations.
I am using the latest version of GDM.
I can find nothing in the logs to indicate a problem.
Running pacmd gives either "daemon not responding" or "connection refused" and there seems to be no discernable pattern of which one it will be.
However, switching to tty1, which apparently is GDM now, fixes the problem until I reboot.
I would appreciate anything pointing me in the right direction.
