XFCE GUI User/Password Management Tool

Hi All.

I am looking for a GUI user management tool, or at the very least and my primary need, a GUI password changer for the XFCE environment.

The goal is to give a standard user the ability to change their own password without the need to open a terminal, if possible.

Hopefully I haven't overlooked it.

Could anyone make a suggestion?

Thanks in advance.

That's not going to work. You will need root privileges to change your own password. I think you could get away with a script and some sudo magic. Need some help with that?

fs/super.c : "Self-destruct in 5 seconds.  Have a nice day...\n",

What?

man passwd

A normal user may only change the password for his/her own account, while the superuser may change the password for any account.

@Eldon
AFAIK XFCE itself doesn't have such a tools, but from a quick google I noticed that most people seem to be using the gnome-system-tools package.

Re: XFCE GUI User/Password Management Tool

Thanks Neburski.

I had seen the 'gnome-system-tools' mentioned several times too but I was concerned I was missing something more obvious.

I had discovered:

http://wiki.xfce.org/design/xfce4-settings/useraccounts

but it seems there is no recent updates regarding this project.

gnome-system-tools it is, I guess.

Thanks again.

I recommend mate-system-tools instead. It's exactly the same, but with less B.S. dependencies.

Re: XFCE GUI User/Password Management Tool

For anybody finding this thread through $SEARCH_ENGINE, I just want to add that `mate-system-tools` has been dropped in 1.10. `gnome-system-tools` is dead as well.

They do still work currently, but as they are both unmaintained they will soon die. Except for Fedora's tools there will be no graphical user management tool anymore.
