Nvida GT 610 nouveau support

Hello all,

I am currently trying to find a setup with a working graphics card (no 3D required). I got myself a GT 610 from Nvidia, specifically this one here:

I tried using nouveau with it. Bootup worked fine, it showed the console with the correct resolution. Problem is that X won't start. The error message is:

[drm] kms not enabled

This confuses me, seeing as the nouveau driver seems to work. I tries using Nvidia instead. This does work but the driver has a *horrible* 2D performance. Quite annoying that Nvidia can't even get this to work properly.

Question is: Is this card working at all with nouveau? I took a look at the code names here: https://wiki.freedesktop.org/nouveau/CodeNames/ and the Fermi family seems to be supported. If the card does not work I can return it but then I would need to know if there *is* a working card for <= 50 €. Any ideas?

It's kinda obvious but...Have you followed the instructions in KMS Installation?

Make sure you don't have any vga=  parameters in your boot loader's configuration file.  Nouveau should work fine out of the box as long as you aren't trying to override it on the kernel line.
