Volumeicon and "open mixer" problem

Hi all,

I have been using "volumeicon" on my systray for some days now. The option "open mixer" is set by default to:

xterm -e 'alsamixer'

However, I use terminator and would like to open alsamixer with it. I tried

terminator --command="alsamixer"

but no luck so far. It seems volume icon cannot open terminator (I have no problem if I type "alsamixer" directly on terminator). Anyone has an idea if this is possible and how it can be achieved? Ah! I tried the above-mentioned code in both volumeicon's preferences and ~/.config/volumeicon/volumeicon file. Thanks!

Re: Volumeicon and "open mixer" problem

I think you will find it is terminator (or helper app) at fault as I have a couple of "terminator --command=" type keyboard shortcuts that have stopped working since a recent update. I have not spent any time tracing the error as yet - although it may be related to this error:

** (terminator:23765): WARNING **: Binding '<Shift><Control>a' failed!
Unable to bind hide_window key, another instance/window has it.

EDIT: Scratch that - I am currently unable to use "xterm -e" either so the error is elsewhere sad

EDIT2: command line args are usable in a terminal but not in scripts / keybinds...

Re: Volumeicon and "open mixer" problem

Bummer! Well, thanks for your reply. I will keep looking for a way-around, though, and will post it here if I found anything on this.
