Re: [SOLVED] broadcom-wl* kernel 3.18 issues thread

Using the resent dkms version with BCM43142 on dell vostro and 3.18.2-2-ARCH isn't working.
No kernel panics, but even though NM sees the wifi card, it finds no networks.

Yes, same problem for me. No panics but can't connect to wifi.
I went back to previous kernel and previous driver...

BCM43142 also

I don't underhand how some people with BCM43142 have no problems

Re: [SOLVED] broadcom-wl* kernel 3.18 issues thread

Kernel update 3.18.3-1  just broke working broadcom-wl-dkns on  MacBook Air early 2014 (see my posts on previous page).

wifi-menu gives "Invalid interface specification"

Re: [SOLVED] broadcom-wl* kernel 3.18 issues thread

Broadcom-wl-dkms still works fine on my MacBook 9,2 (MacBook Pro 13" mid-2012 with BCM 4331) with 3.18.3-1.

I had to manually reinstall broadcom-wl-dkms, but it still works

Re: [SOLVED] broadcom-wl* kernel 3.18 issues thread

Rebuilding broadcom-wl-dkms fixed the problem.

Wi-fi is working now.

Conclusion: updating the kernel breaks Wi-Fi and requires rebuilding broadcom-wl-dkms and subsequent rebooting on MacBook Air early 2014.

twelveeighty, please remove [SOLVED] from the thread subject

Actually, there was a pkgrel push, so it merely requires upgrading broadcom-wl-dkms to the latest version. AUR helpers should do this when upgrading for most users.

Kernel update 3.18.4-1,  same story: "Invalid interface specification" from wifi-menu.

Rebuild, reboot.

Working.

Re: [SOLVED] broadcom-wl* kernel 3.18 issues thread

I am still having frequent disconnections and slow speed issue with BCM43142 on kernel 3.18.4 with the latest broadcom-wl-dkms (6.30.223.248-5). I have started a new thread for this here https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1499313. Please reply to the thread if you are facing the similar issue(s) and/or have a solution.

Re: [SOLVED] broadcom-wl* kernel 3.18 issues thread

It doesn't work for me with latest broadcom-wl-dkms (6.30.223.248-5).

I'm using a MacBook Air 2012:

$ lspci -vnn | grep 14e4:
02:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Broadcom Corporation BCM43224 802.11a/b/g/n [14e4:4353] (rev 01)

Can't connect at all.

Re: [SOLVED] broadcom-wl* kernel 3.18 issues thread

Macbook Air 2013 today's update of wpa-supplicant leads to wifi-menu (based on  broadcom-wl-dkms) crash with the following diagnostics:

/usr/bin/wifi-menu: line 67: Successfully initialized wpa_supplicant
/tmp/essid.uUQ6cr1A: No such file or directory

Error: Expected at least 6 tokens for --menu, have 4.
Use --help to list options.

Re-building of broadcom-wl-dkms doesn't help.

All apologies if this is an inconsiderate bump of an old thread but I have to say

teehee!.
Funny thing is networking seemed to be fine when using NM to manage the interface
but when managed manually the ass fell out of the kernel.
Anyway ta for that and maybe I'll see ya round.
