Suddenly unable to run optirun/primusrun

I was playing Cities Skylines on my laptop and I had to exit the game. When I came back to it, the game refused to launch at all. At first I thought it was an issue with the game, but it launched fine when I removed the line  primusrun %command% from my launch options on steam.

I then ran optirun glxgears, and I got the following error message:
"[ 1973.304406] [ERROR]The Bumblebee daemon has not been started yet or the socket path /var/run/bumblebee.socket was incorrect.
[ 1973.304524] [ERROR]Could not connect to bumblebee daemon - is it running?"

I cannot figure out what the hell is wrong. Reinstalling bumblebee did not fix the problem, nor did uninstalling everything and then reinstalling it. Running "systemctl restart bumblebeed" does nothing as well.

Any suggestions? Thank you!
