Try get the file from /tmp and play it with regular mplayer. I have seen this one time, and the reason was that mplayer was unable to play the movie (a quicktime HD trailer, caused an error in audio aac decoder).
Excessive showering, grooming, and toothbrushing is not only vain, it wastes valuable coding time.

Had same/similar problem. Setting rtsp-use-tcp to 0 in mplayerplug-in.conf solved the issue. (Though I do not understand why...)
