multimonitor solution for Thinkpad W520

Hello Forum,

I have had this problem for probably a month now and have tried about any solution available.

The laptop in question has a integrated gpu and a dedicated gpu. The external video ports are wired to the nvidia gpu.

I cannot disable optimus, because acpi-bugs with W520 will cause the whole machine to lockup in linux.

Has anyone been able to do multimonitoring with this setup?

Until the update to Gnome 3.16 bumblebee with intel-virtual-output has worked great, but now the output will show massive tears and artifacting.
I am currently using reverse prime with nouveau drivers, unfortunately this comes with synchronisation problems. (The external display is refreshed very sporadically)

I would be happy about any help or another solution.
