kernel 4.0 intel graphics

recently updating to kernel 4.0 I get a wierd glich where it creates waves on the screen. while booting I get a failed to start systemd-modules-load.service I did not get any warnings before I have downgraded and do not get the glitch any more though I do still get the warning so I think there is something with the updated kernel that is conflicting or something with another update or something. I at first though this may be with mkinitcpio.conf and my modules="i915" though I do not think so. any help appreciated.
when I systemctl status systemctl-modules-load.service i get

● systemd-modules-load.service - Load Kernel Modules
Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/systemd-modules-load.service; static; vendor preset: disabled)
Active: failed (Result: exit-code) since Wed 2015-04-29 15:00:17 PDT; 14min ago
     Docs: man:systemd-modules-load.service(8)
           man:modules-load.d(5)
 Main PID: 124 (code=exited, status=1/FAILURE)

Maybe that's a typo on this post, and not your configs, but the intel kernel module is 'i915'

Re: kernel 4.0 intel graphics

I'm confirming the same issue. Intel HD3000 here. Temporarily fixed it by reverting to kernel 3.19.3.

Re: kernel 4.0 intel graphics

Hi

I read this thread and to guard against system breakage I installed linux-lts before updating the kernel as a fallback in case 4.0 wouldn't work.
But indeed 4.0 did work: I did not encounter the problems described in this thread.
My system is an Intel 5th generation broadwell based machine with HD6000 integrated graphics as the only graphics adapter (btw: HD6000 worked flawlessly from the beginning).
I thought I should post this for those having a comparable machine and being in doubt whether to upgrade.

Re: kernel 4.0 intel graphics

I can also confirm that my HP folio-13 (HD3000 graphics) is blinking/glitching with kernel 4.0, but only on the gdm login screen - gnome desktop is fine.

On the other hand, my NUC-5i5RYK (HD6000) is working flawlessly with the new kernel.

This is exactly the machine I was talking of in my own post :-)
