I uploaded a package for Visual Studio Code called "code" and it was deleted in less than an hour.
Are there any restrictions on what types of software can be uploaded to the AUR?
What did I do wrong here?

Seems a bunch of people submitted similar packages and there have been some merges/deletions.

I can't see any specific mention of a package called "code" on the AUR-requests mailing list, but I think it's safe to say it was removed as a duplicate following all the reports:

Does the maintainer get e-mailed with pending requests or does he have to keep an eye on the ML?
I'm not maintaining any packages in the AUR, so I can't test ;P

Pretty sure that they get an email when someone files a request, mark's OOD, or the package gets deleted/merged.

I was following ('Notify' option) one of these ~vscode packages and when it got merged, I got an e-mail:
AUR Package deleted: visualstudiocode
Kyrias merged "visualstudiocode" into "visual-studio-code".
You will no longer receive notifications about this package, please go to https://aur.archlinux.org/pkgbase/visual-studio-code/ and click the Notify button if you wish to recieve them again.

I was looking for a package before writing one. But apparently you won't find it when you are searching for "Visual Studio" and there was no package called "code". (If you look for "visual-studio" though you can find it). The search function could use some improvement.
