[Solved] - CUPS and avahi

Hi guys,
I want to install my network printer (EPSON XP 412)

When I run the "Add printer" or "Find new printers" in CUPS, it discovers:

dnssd://EPSON%20XP-412%20413%20415%20Series._ipp._tcp.local/?uuid=cfe92100-67c4-11d4-a45f-b0e892b1be63
dnssd://EPSON%20XP-412%20413%20415%20Series._pdl-datastream._tcp.local/
lpd://192.168.1.102:515/PASSTHRU

The first two don't work with error "Processing - Unable to locate printer "EPSONB1BE63.local"" and the last works. The problem is that when I restart the printer the IP changes and I have to restart the procedure to install a printer. (No way to set a static IP with the router).

I also launched the avahi deamon and avahi-discover told me that the address is:

EPSONB1BE63.local/192.168.1.102:515

But doesn't work. Error -> "Processing - Unable to locate printer "EPSONB1BE63.local"

Is there a way to solve this?

Thank you

Re: [Solved] - CUPS and avahi

On some printers there is the option of setting a static IP address.  That way, once you have it set to static you won't ever have to reconfigure cups.  Try connecting to the IP of you printer through your web browser and see if it has the option.

Re: [Solved] - CUPS and avahi

Thank you.
I set the static IP on my wireless printer and now everything is ok.
