Hello,
I would like to ask if anyone could adopt and update Lua package in extra repo. It is flagged out of date for a while now and Lua 5.3 has some nice features. Moreover, I am really surprised that package is orphaned - why? I think that official interpreters (or compilers) should really be maintained even for languages which are not "mainstream".
Thanks

My understanding is that many 5.2 packages are incompatible 5.3. Lua rarely keeps backward compatibility as primary goal.

That's what I thought and feared. But still it seems strange to me, that Lua package is orphaned. This way it looks like it won't be updated for a really long time
. But Lua 5.3 is somewhat new so I should just give it a time. At least there is a package in AUR. Maybe I should vote
.

It will be definitely updated some day. Somebody should just bite the bullet and start process of updating all the lua packages.

Lua 5.3 just landed to [testing]. If you have time please enable [testing] repository and report any issues related to this Lua5.3 migration.

I would like to test new version, but I am afraid that time is really precious for me now. It seems that I won't have time for any programming for a while... Sorry
