Random freezes after upgrading to Linux 4.0.1 on Lenovo IdeaPad

Hi all,

Right now, I don't know if this is me being stupid, or an actual issue with the kernel, so I'm hesitant to file any sort of bug report until I know for certain.

A few days ago, I used pacman to upgrade the Linux kernel to 4.0.1, from 3.19.3. The upgrade went off without a hitch. After rebooting, everything worked fine, but after leaving the laptop running for a few hours, I came back, carried on browsing the Web, only to have it freeze on me. Initially, I assumed it was my trackball needing new batteries, however when I noticed it wouldn't respond to any key presses, even just for changing the keyboard status LEDs, it was clear something was wrong. Pressing the power button didn't work, I had to force shutdown (thank God for journaling file systems).

This happened again just now, a few minutes into booting the laptop up. Same scenario, reading articles on the Web when my cursor stops moving, and the status LEDs won't respond to me. Post reboot, I downgraded back to 3.19.3, hoping to stabilize, however if this is a regression in the kernel somewhere, I'd like to confirm so, so I can inform the relavent parties.

The laptop, for the record, is a Lenovo IdeaPad Z570.
