Gaim 2

Hi,

I am building Gaim 2 for Arch64.... but getting this error

checking for pkg-config... no
checking for GLIB - version >= 2.0.0... no
*** A new enough version of pkg-config was not found.
*** See http://www.freedesktop.org/software/pkgconfig/
configure: error:
*** GLib 2.0 is required to build Gaim; please make sure you have the GLib
*** development headers installed. The latest version of GLib is
*** always available at http://www.gtk.org/.
make: *** No targets specified and no makefile found. Stop.
==> ERROR: Build Failed.  Aborting...

Anyone give me any help ?

Re: Gaim 2

The glib2 pkg should be fine. But you can try to recompile it. It guess you need another configure option "--with-libdir" or something like that or a patch is needed.

For now I cannot understand why you try to compile unstable software. I think there is enough space for testing existing packages. A lot of bugs should be found and fixed. That is much more important on the way becoming an official port.

Re: Gaim 2

Just tried rebuilding under Arch32 .... no problem at all

checking for pkg-config... /usr/bin/pkg-config
checking for GLIB - version >= 2.0.0... yes (version 2.8.6)
checking for pkg-config... (cached) /usr/bin/pkg-config
checking for GTK+ - version >= 2.0.0... yes (version 2.8.12)
checking for gaim... /usr/bin/gaim
checking for X... libraries , headers
checking for gethostbyname... yes

Whats going on ? is it a paths thing ?

Re: Gaim 2

Err odd, Gaim 2.0 is working fine here. I just built it using aurbuild but I stripped it down a bit, I'll try rebuilding it (stupid aurbuild doesn't keep copies lying around mad) for you and email you a link smile
