Hey guys,
I'm in the process of putting arch on my new Dell XPS 13 (2015).
Currently I'm trying to get Gnome to run, which got me stuck.
I installed X and Gnome. Now I'm calling gdm after booting, but it just writes tons of 'Unable to register display with display manager' to the journal.
Starting X by using startx works fine, but it only loads the default window manager.
So when I start gdm, this happens:
The last part of journalctl:

I'm really stuck with this. Any piece of advice is much appreciated!
Thanks!

Hi, I've had that problem too, it's no solution, merely a workaround:

Starting X by using startx works fine, but it only loads the default window manager.

Also, use code tags rather than quote tags when posting terminal output to preserve formatting and improve readability.

Hmm, gdm doesn't start at all, so would calling it via Xinitrc really make a difference?

Thanks for the tip, I edited my post.

Thanks a lot, I'll try that!
Also, I've installed sddm and that works fine for now.

I was trying to indicate a method for starting GNOME without a display manager; I probably should have been more explicit...
