Hi
I was using Sonata as my mpd client for quite a long time, but I was still missing one feature that made me love Banshee, which is library browser based on artwork view
Now I have gmpc, I also installed gmpc-albumview to see album grid, but there are still two things that bother me:
1) can I force gmpc-albumview to sort albums by album title, instead of artist and then album title? I have lots of "series" in my library and I'd like them to be all together. Artist A - Serie 01 is at the beggining of my grid, and Artist Z - Serie 02 is at the very end. Can I sort them by sole album title? I didn't find such option
2) Seems like gmpc only reads artworks from graphic files placed in album's folder. It's not problematic in general, but when it comes to podcast which I download... It becomes an issue. See, I place all podcast of specific type in one directory, and each of them has artwork embedded in metadata. Unfortunately, it seems like gmpc doesn't read them, so they also don't show up in gmpc-albumview. See, there is artwork embedded:
but gmpc behaves, like there is no artwork at all:![]()
I tried setting image "type" in easytag to different ones (fron cover, back cover, other, etc.) but it didn't help
So, the questions:
1) Can I make albumview sort albums by album title?
2) Can I make gmpc read embedded artworks?

Hi
1) Can I make albumview sort albums by album title?
I do not think so. I have given up using GMPC, the application is hardly customizable and full inconsistencies. The problem that "album view" shows albums ordered by artist name (which would be fine for an "artist view") is just one of many. Very sad.

You know? Problems don't disappear magically.
Just checked the bug tracker. I can't see a bug report for this...
and to the original poster: mpd clients usally do not have access to your music files. They simply send commands to mpd and mpd does not have support for cover artworks.
Anyway, try cantata, you might like it.

He hoped and prayed that there wasn't an afterlife. Then he realized there was a contradiction involved here and merely hoped that there wasn't an afterlife.
