Hello everybody!
I just installed archlinux on my dell inspiron laptop, where the shorcut for enabling/disabling the touchpad is Fn+F3. However, when I try to do it it does not work. Moreover, the fonts of the windows change for a moment and if I press it several times in a short time Gnome crashes. This is a very odd problem which I have not found on google.com
Could you please give me a hand?
Thanks!

I don't understand, could you please be more specific with your answer?

You follow the instructions on that page to determine what Fn+F3 is bound to. Then look in your journal or dmesg to see what it is actually doing.

Ok, according to showkey its the key 191, when I try to run xev I get nothing. On dmesg I got
[ 2173.602249] traps: gnome-settings-[3943] trap int3 ip:7f148560fac0 sp:7ffd777cfef0 error:0

You could map it to a script that toggles the keypad; that is what I do.

I just tried to do it with synclient. However
christian@cerealbox:~$ synclient TouchpadOff=1
Couldn't find synaptics properties. No synaptics driver loaded?
christian@cerealbox:~$ synclient TouchpadOff=0
Couldn't find synaptics properties. No synaptics driver loaded?
