HDMI Output to TV turns green and pink after input change

I am relatively new to Arch Linux, so hello!

Everything has been working wonderfully so far, but I have a new weird quirk. When I change the HDMI input to another source and then cycle back, the input seems to get confused and my whole screen turns shades of green and pink. If I restart the computer, or turn the TV off and on the display reverts to normal. I came from Ubuntu, and the problem was not present there, so I don't believe it is hardware related.

Google searches brought me to this thread from 2010:

http://www.phoronix.com/forums/forum/li … -with-KMS=

that thinks it has something to do with the TV getting confused and thinking the input should be YUV. I makes sense, because everything is fine after a computer or TV restart.

I don't really know what to do with the information in that thread, or where to go from here to fix it.

I would appreciate it if anyone could set me on a path to diagnose the problem on my machine and how to fix it. Thanks for your time!

Re: HDMI Output to TV turns green and pink after input change

I did swap cables, and the problem persists. It is also still working fine on my Ubuntu partition, so I don't think it's the hardware. I'm just not sure what the difference is.

My hardware is a Radeon HD 6530D. I considered trying to install the catalyst drivers, but again, I don't have them on Ubuntu, so that likely isn't the solution.

I don't have enough experience to know where to look for the problem, but maybe someone can point me in the right direction.

Re: HDMI Output to TV turns green and pink after input change

Next boot temporarily add

radeon.audio=0

to your Kernel settings in grub see if the issue still remains.

That actually did solve the problem. Unfortunately, now I have no audio, predictably. I don't have the option of digital out or I'd take it, HDMI audio is the only thing that makes sense with my TV. Is there any way to have it both ways?

Re: HDMI Output to TV turns green and pink after input change

that setting just points to the fact that there is a handshake issue and was only for troubleshooting wink

Could you compare xorg.conf on your ubuntu to your xorg.conf on your Arch install

I'm not sure if I fully understand how to do that. I followed the wiki and generated the file by "# Xorg :0 -configure" on both systems, but they came out to basically the same file. No differences in anything un-commented.
