Nvidia 349.16

I figured I would post here before submitting a bug report, but does anyone have any idea why Arch has this version of driver considering that Nvidia themselves do not show this as the latest driver?

Re: Nvidia 349.16

Dunno what you're saying, but when I am on the Nvidia site, they seem to recommend http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverRe … 4721/en-us and not 349.16.

Re: Nvidia 349.16

Ah, I see what you're saying. Why would that be a bug, if I may ask?

Re: Nvidia 349.16

After I submitted this I realized I shouldn't file a bug report. Just flag as out of date. Which I have done as a result. I still forget that Arch has that feature as opposed to a bug.

Re: Nvidia 349.16

You can also download the PKBUILD and the install file from the abs and edit it for 346.72. That would give you the newest driver that's built for Arch's framework. But that's a whole different topic.

Re: Nvidia 349.16

I could, but I haven't had a whole lot of time lately, but I have been avoiding using my machine with Arch on it because of the fuckery with the 349.16 driver and sddm crashing after login which causes an inability to unlock the screen. And since I cannot use the previous driver with kernels greater than 3.19 (since 3.20 got set as 4.0), it just puts me in an annoying position.

Re: Nvidia 349.16

Just in case I was steering you wrong, I went ahead and built nvidia 352.07 (beta) and nvidia-utils 352.07 against my kernel (4.0.4-1-ck) and then installed it. If you're going to go that route, I recommend that you build nvidia-utils before nvidia, because nvidia depends on nvidia-utils. It took me all of 15 minutes to figure out and another 5-10 minutes to install. Make sure you edit both the PKBUILD and the nvidia.install to match your kernel. I have an md5 utility in my file manager (dolphin), so I was able to get my md5 easily. I don't know how you would go about it on your system, but you'll need them.

Re: Nvidia 349.16

Guys I'm gonna push the beta this one time because the current release is just too buggy apparently.
