audio distortion (tried everything)

I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop with Intel MID ALC269 (Realtek) plus Dolby Advanced Audio. I can't for the life of me make it stop having sound distortion/crackling from the subwoofer at higher volumes. I have tried literally every suggested solution and wiki/guide there is about alsa and intel hda sound ever written. I would appreciate any stab in the dark from anyone. Thanks

Re: audio distortion (tried everything)

I'd suggest: use LADSPA to add a limiter on the subwoofer output, so it has a low *maximum* volume which is under the volume where it starts to distort.
