Can't get my Wi-Fi connected HP Deskjet 3050 J610 to work on Arch

I'm trying to add an HP Deskjet 3050 J610 printer on my Wi-Fi network to my Arch Linux system. I've installed libcups, sane, and hplip as well as other less important packages. I extracted the corresponding PPD file (HPIJS version) and configured hp-setup to use it. But then, when it got to printing the test page, it basically told me that it couldn't find my printer! What am I doing wrong here?

yugiohfan , according to openprinting.org you need to use the hpcups driver for that printer.

What uri did you give cups for the printer ?

In case you don't remember, post /etc/cups/printers.conf

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky

Also, does your printer have it's own IP address?

Re: Can't get my Wi-Fi connected HP Deskjet 3050 J610 to work on Arch

I have the same printer. However, the initial setup, which requires to connect the printer via usb, was done on my brother's Windows machine. From then on, our router assigns the printer an IP. When I was setting up the printer in Linux, I used the hp-toolbox GUI, and I remember it couldn't find the printer in an automatic search, I had to type in the IP myself. Then the printer was found and it prints.

BTW, there's no need to extract any PPD files, in fact HPIJS is the old, deprecated driver. hp-toolbox, once it finds the printer, should automatically set up a PPD that uses the hpcups driver.
