Does the 32bit version of ArchLinux boot on an Apple Macbook/imac/macmini machine? I mean, is the Linux kernel "intelligent" enough to try to boot using EFI instead of BIOS when available? Or a specially compiled kernel is needed?

IIRC kernel works, but I don't think X does... Not sure about that though.

[thomas@gollum ~]$ grep EFI /var/abs/kernels/kernel26/config
# CONFIG_EFI is not set
EFI seems to be supported by linux, but disabled in Arch's default kernel. Maybe you should file a feature request. Or you could make your own kernel and just try.

I don't have a macbook yet so I can't try it. The whole reason I am asking is so I know if Arch works so I can buy one and run it aside OSX. I want to multiboot my [future] Macbook.
