Hi, I have just installed Archlinux on my Lenovo X100e. I have not used this machine before because of overheat problem (with Windows, CentOS or Ubuntu with GUI).
I load it with Archlinux and it works well! I only use console as using GUI would make it overheat and reboot.
Then here comes the question, how can I display Chinese, or any characters other than English in the text console?

Are you sure you can't just use a light WM? What causes the overheating? Graphics drivers? Which ones?
Try e.g. https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Fbterm or https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/KMSCON

Archivist, thanks for the tip. fbterm works. I am still trying configure Chinese input and display.
I am not sure what causes the overheating. Where should I start to troubleshoot?

Even I don't read Chinese I followed the wiki. For you may be easier to read the Chinese wiki.
But for my daughter I set in her ~/.bash.profile
export LANG="zh_CN.UTF-8 UTF-8"
and installed the fonts. Then if you're using KDE and/or libreoffice it would be nicer to install its fonts too.
For input you may find ibus and its different input methods.
do it good first, it will be faster than do it twice the saint

I have no idea about notebooks, but try installing a light WM e.g. https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Dwm , start X and see what happens.
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Le … kPad_X100e is old and incomplete, but you can mane it better :-)
What do you see instead of the Chinese characters?
