The boot process hangs after an update

Hey there, I have a problem and I hope to get some helpful advice. After an update, sometimes, the boot process hangs with the last line being „A start job is running for Set Up Additional Binary Formats“. I’ve found on the internet that it can be caused by systemd not being able to start systemd-binfmt.service

I don’t know the specific package that causes it.

Re: The boot process hangs after an update

Hi,

Didn't pacman complain about something during the update (like some configuration file that got installed as .pacnew or... ?)

to find the culprit, downgrade all the packages that were updated, and try booting after one package update at a time.

If it is indeed a regression (something was working and after updating it's not) and not a configuration issue, try getting some information about it (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Boot_debugging) and report it.

Re: The boot process hangs after an update

It seems that Docky panel is what causing it. It has mono as dependency which in turn creates /usr/lib/binfmt.d/mono.conf. I’ve decided to just delete Docky. Now the problem is gone.
