I encountered this error and wanted to post it so others can find it.
I updated to the latest Kernel 4.0.4-2-ARCH and my dual display did not work anymore. The HDMI was always showing no signal. Running xrandr showed everything was good and perfect. No errors in the dmesg or xorg logs. Did some searching and googling and it seems to have to do with the HDMI audio output there is a bug filed : (https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=98751) and (https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=99041)
There are patches if you would like but for now you can run
xset dpms force off which has fixed my monitor not getting a signal - here's to hoping for a new patch.
