xbindkeys and multiplie hotkeys

Hi

I have set xbindkeys to open my desktop menu with the "windows key", but I will also like to open a website with the "windows key + z". But every time I launch the website it also launch the menu? Is it possible to stop this? I have tried searching around the WWW, but could not really find anything.

I'm not sure if it is possible with Xbindkeys, but it is definitely possible for a key binding program to do this in X - one of the iterations of one of my WMs did what you describe.

You might want to check other key binding programs. Sxhkd can use key chains, so it is more likely to be able to do this - though I haven't used it.

Thankyou for your help, but it did not solve the problem. Sxhkd cannot use the 'super' key alone. But I will look for other programs.
I will post as edit if I find a solution.

You might also try "Super_L" or "Super_R" as these are the Xorg keysyms used for one of the 'windows' keys pressed by itself.

"Super_L" or "Super_R" do not work either. But the output when using the 'super' or 'meta' alone is as follows:

Could not grab key 124 with modfield 221: the combination is already grabbed.

Can this be solved?

The error message is pretty clear - something else is already grabbing that key - most likely your WM/DE.
