[Solved??] Hibernate not working on Thinkapd

Hello,
I am running Arch Linux on a E440 Thinkapd laptop. Pretty much everything works perfectly, except for hibernation. The system does shut down properly on hibernate, but when I turn it back on, the screen is completely blank. The computer is running, but it does not respond. I have read all of the directions on the wiki, but have found no solution. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!

Re: [Solved??] Hibernate not working on Thinkapd

Hello,

I don`t know if this is of any help.
I had problems with hibernating since linux kernel 3.19.
Now i am using the LTS kernel as suggested in the wiki.
Together with the method mentioned in this thread:

https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=161053
[Thanks for that!!!!]

it is a great joy to shut down the computer .... smile

All the best!

Thanks, I think I'll try the LTS kernel then ...
Is there anything that I should be aware of when switching kernels?

Re: [Solved??] Hibernate not working on Thinkapd

If you use additional kernel modules you need those modules for the lts kernel too. So if you have some module built by yourself(e.g. from aur) then you need to rebuild it for lts kernel

I put at button on it. Yes. I wish to press it, but I'm not sure what will happen if I do.  (Gune | Titan A.E.)

Re: [Solved??] Hibernate not working on Thinkapd

I didn`t think of installing the appropriate modules like acpi_call-lts or virtualbox-host-modules-lts and making an entry for gummiboot loader.
that done, it worked very well.
but i am far far away from beeing a reliable expert!
So i would suggest a good backup ...

Good luck!

ah okay i am to late with this post smile

Re: [Solved??] Hibernate not working on Thinkapd

Thank you for your suggestion!
I am now using the LTS kernel and hibernate works perfectly!

EDIT:
I do not think that I have changed anything, but now my laptop reboots imediately after resuming fromm hibernate. I am very curious to why this is happening. Anyone have any ideas?

I have read somewhere that adding acpi_sleep=nonvs to the kernel parameters fixes this problem. I am not sure exactly what this does, but hibernate seems to be working ...
