Gnome apps in Xfce issue

I use xfce on arch linux fresh install. I installed some apps like evince , file-roller , gnome-system-monitor , etc and they are not displaying correctly . They have gnome 3 look . why is this issue occuring and how to resolve it? Thanks for your time .

Some applications, such as file roller, are built against gtk3 so they now have client-side decorations, the most noticeable of which is the drop-shadow around the window. You can control this to some extent by altering the CSS for the decorations, the file for which is described here:

You could install the GTK2 versions from the AUR:

- gnome-system-monitor-gtk2
- file-roller-nn
- evince2-light

Using applications from the MATE desktop environment is a better solution as these applications are maintained.

thats what i figured and switched gnome applications with mate applications and i am really pleased with the results. Thanks for the help everyone. smile
