A few days ago I was looking Google earth on Windows 2000 and liked it very much. I would like to have something similar in Linux and then I found earth3d. I tried to compile it but this failed with compilation errors. I hope someone is also a fan of Google earth and will make a working PKGBUILD.
Then there is also wwd2

there is no configure
cd $startdir/src/$pkgname-$pkgver/src
qmake earth3d.pro
make
then copy files to appropriate location there is no make install either from what I can see
try the above in the build section

I started to wait for Google Earth free version to be ported for Linux. Actually there is already a Linux version of GE, but it is commercial.

Someone has managed to get the GE to work on Ubuntu. I also tried with Wine but could not get the installer to work (don't know how to set up dcom98)

Have a look here : http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Install_Go … _with_wine

I tried again Google Earth and using winetools the installation went fine. Then I tried to follow the Gentoo guide, but running Google Earth stopped at splash screen and in console I got this error:
err:seh:setup_exception stack overflow 52 bytes in thread 001d eip 7e627243 esp 7fa80fcc stack 0x7fa81000-0x7fb90000
...and the splash screen stays on.
Has anyone got past that point somehow?
