I am getting this on quite a few packages. Is there something one can do avoid this?
Examples are archlinux-themes-sddm and eaglemode.
$ pacaur -S archlinux-themes-sddm

Do they build manually?

At least the first I checked failed
==> ERROR: Failure while downloading eaglemode-0.88.0.tar.bz2
Aborting...
While the sddm and projectlibre packages installs manually.

Looks like the sourceforge link is dead: leave a comment for the maintainer.

Will do,but why does a package build manually but when run through pacaur I get a tmp directory error?

No idea: I've never used pacaur. Try setting a different build dir.
