How to change gdm tty behaviour?

Somehow the GNOME team had the very strange idea of opening the gnome session on another virtual terminal than gdm.

How can I get gdm to behave itself like the good "old" 3.14?

Thanks for your help

Re: How to change gdm tty behaviour?

After the update to gdm 3.16.1-3 it "just" spawns to tty2 and not, like before randomly to any tty.

Still this behaviour is annoying and I am desperately looking for a patch or something. I scrolled through the /etc/gdm/ files but could'nt find anything to change the situation.

Re: How to change gdm tty behaviour?

Maybe it is related to the switch to wayland as gdm backend. Probably we will have to find another displaymanager in the meantime.

You can deactivate the "wayland" behaviour but also this didn't resolve the problem.

Re: How to change gdm tty behaviour?

As this is no solution for anybody wanting to continue the use of GDM I would like to ask again: Anybody already came up with solutions? Still there is nothing in the wiki about it...

Re: How to change gdm tty behaviour?

Bump, still an issue. Currently GDM is completely unusable with XFCE..
