Donations with paypal

Hello! i just switched to arch, yey! but i also make a habit of supporting my distro with monthly donations.
I really  like paypal,  i would like to avoid click&pledge if possible, is it possible? will you make it possible?

Thanks!

Side note:

Using arch with btrfs and its a beauty!  i am snapshooting myself out of my noob mistakes (and avoiding generating more forum noise)
for that reason i think i can contribute a little to the arch wiki (avoid my pitfalls) when i have some details sorted out i will try and publish it
maybe a complete guide to the btrfs thing i did can be nice.

Re: Donations with paypal

Hi, I am just a user like you but I notice this:

Monetary donations

Financial contributions are accepted via Click&Pledge. Arch Linux is a member project of the Software in the Public Interest, Inc. non-profit corporation. Funds are used for hosting costs, server hardware upgrades, and more. You are encouraged to learn more about the SPI, as well as how donations work.

https://www.archlinux.org/donate/

SPI does not have its own Paypal account. If any account is registered with a payee that claims to be "SPI", be aware that it is not associated with Software in the Public Interest, Inc. and may be fraudulent. Donations to SPI via Paypal are possible through Network for Good

http://www.spi-inc.org/donations/

https://www.networkforgood.org/donation … 11-3390208

These donations can be made to SPI directly, or they can be marked for use by a particular member project. It is preferred that the donations be made to SPI, as they can then be used wherever the need is greatest. Donations to SPI that are not marked for a particular project will be distributed to the projects that are currently affiliated with SPI as needed, and/or used for SPI's own expenses.

Re: Donations with paypal

Thanks for pointing that out, @davidm - I nearly gave up trying to donate until I came to the forum and found this thread.

Click & Pledge looks like either a half decent ecom site from 1997 or a really shoddy scam site from 2009. I mean, come on - do they actually get anyone to put CC info into that garbage? Curious to me why SPI wouldn't have a PayPal account, but I suppose that's beside the point. </rant>

I'll make my donation through Network for Good with a designation for Arch this time, but I have to ask the question: what can be done to encourage and/or support SPI to get their system updated? I guarantee they lose money because of Click & Pledge's sad design, archaic UX, and bare, bare minimum security (nothing more than a DV cert). Wouldn't touch that with a 10 foot pole.

Re: Donations with paypal

If you have a credit card and are having difficulty with our primary payment processor, Click & Pledge, you can also donate via our alternate payment processors, USA ePay:

Maybe USA ePay is better ?

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

We used to do Paypal, but they can decide to keep your money at any stage so we moved away.

Re: Donations with paypal

if you guys you will update the system allowing donations via paypal I will be happy to help by donating something.

I never insert the info of my credit card online, it is not for lack of confidence in the foundation but for security reason.

Good plan, but you did have to give your credentials to PayPal.  Just checking to see if you have seen this https://www.archlinux.org/donate/
As we use click&pledge, Arch Linux never sees your credentials.
