[Solved] Applications taking a long time to start

I am running gnome on a fairly recent arch install. When launching an application with alt-f2 or from the terminal the application appears on screen immediatly. However when launching via an icon under the activities button, the application will often take several minutes to launch. I tried the command "gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface enable-animations false" as the animation was freezing but this didn't resolve the problem. I'm not sure where to go from here and would be grateful for any advice smile

Please list the applications that take a long time to start.

If it's "all of them" then please list all of them.

It seems that others had the same problem: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=197383. The issue was fixed after I downloaded a new cursor theme.
