I can only use mouse in Gnome as root!

When I login in with regular user, the mouse don't work. More surprising, when I switched from root's tty to the regular user's tty and back, the mouse didn't work too.

Is it only in the tty's the mouse doesn't work?  Do you use X11?  If so does it work there?

What is the status of gpm.service?

Edit:  Sorry, this may be irrelevant as I missed the subject and just saw the tty reference.  Then again why use Gnome as root?  Or was that just to test?
